heart & the bibleThe Word of God is the Bible. Many people today question the validity of the Bible. My post today isn’t to enter into that debate. I am thoroughly convinced that Bible is Truth; therefore, must be accepted and followed accordingly. There is no room for me to pick and choose which parts I like and which ones I don’t. It’s a whole package.

As I have studied the Bible over the past decades, I have developed a deep passion for it. It is abounding with rich treasures that can never be mined away. It will take us into eternity to grasp what has been written. That is what I want to focus on today in this simple post about the Bible. Its longevity.

Psalm 119:89 states “Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.”  The prophet Isaiah writes to us in 40:8, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.” Excuse me, did you say forever? This truth is so important, apostle Peter wrote about it to the new believers in his day. (1 Peter 1:25) Truth does not change with the times. It’s firm, it’s eternal. Wouldn’t you want to spend your time investing in something that lasts forever?

Investing in things that last and have great return is just good business sense. What about good spiritual sense?  Once I realized that scripture is never going to pass away, I wanted all in. It’s the only thing that I could invest in here on earth that will not perish.  How many people have promised to do something for ‘forever,’ but quickly forgot their promise? Not God. He says you can count on it longer than your spouse, children, friends, job, bank account, home or whatever thing you treasure.

Take time to fall in love with His word. Your time invested will pay dividends for eternity!

A lover of God and His Word,

Heidi
